Pediatric Occupational Therapy

83552767You and your child are important to us.

At Great Changes, we help you and your child.

Life with children is not easy and usually thankless. Caring for a child is both confusing and challenging.

Simple tasks are challenging to master for your child, making things difficult at home and school. They seem unable to follow directions and often feel confused. Listening, staying calm, eating correctly, and behaving are impossible tasks for them.

Dealing with these issues is overwhelming, and getting the help they need is tiring. Overcoming those difficulties is where occupational therapy can help.

Learning basic tasks is essential to your child.

Every child needs to gain independence as they develop. This independence requires learning to care for themselves, such as dressing, tying shoelaces, knowing when to bathe, etc.

Learning to perform in school requires accomplishing tasks according to grade level. Achieving this is challenging for some children who struggle with writing, reading, paying attention, and self-control.

When children struggle, parents struggle. Overcoming those struggles is where occupational therapy can help.

OtshootOccupational therapy is about learning skills.

Occupational therapy is the science and art of helping people gain independence, reach their full potential, and lead happy and productive lives. We use meaningful, evidence-based methods and therapeutic activities to help your child meet their needs and achieve goals.

Your child’s job is to learn to be as successful as possible in all areas of life. At home, this learning involves playing, getting along with others, eating, dressing, brushing teeth, and going to the bathroom. School requires other learning skills, including listening and following instructions, reading, writing, and completing learning assignments and homework.

In any environment, your child needs to learn to stay calm, communicate their wants and needs, and develop confidence in their abilities.

Children can learn vital skills at each age and stage of development, but sometimes life is too challenging, and these skills don’t come easily. A child may not develop these skills as expected, and help may be necessary. Enhancing your child’s development is where we, as occupational therapists, come into the picture.

265816898Our approach focuses on your child’s needs.

Our pediatric occupational therapists make learning important skills fun.

We start with an in-depth and detailed assessment to evaluate areas where your child needs support. After the evaluation, we will develop a treatment plan to meet your child’s needs. Part of that treatment will include meaningful activities designed for each child or young person to address their needs as identified by their families, caregivers, or the child.

We also specialize in helping children with delays in fine and gross motor coordination, sensory processing, behavior, social-emotional, and self-help skills (eating, dressing, grooming, toileting, etc.), as well as self-regulation and executive functioning skills.

Parents, you are part of the process because you support your child and provide insight to us during this process.

Please don’t keep trying to go it alone.

Occupational therapy can help make things better for you and your child. Your child can learn skills as they gain confidence in themselves.
