Working with children is my passion.
It may seem strange, but I always knew what I wanted to be as I grew up. I accomplished my goal of becoming an occupational therapist, but I haven’t ‘grown up’ yet! It’s much more fun to create fun, meaningful learning opportunities for children who need my help, and so rewarding to provide resources, information, and hope for their families.
I went to OU (Boomer Sooner!) and have been an OT since 1986. I’ve worked in many schools, including a non-profit day school for children with autism.
I’ve worked in several outpatient therapy clinics but started Great Changes in 2014 because children and families needed something different – a significant change.
Life outside of therapy is full of adventure.
In my (rare!) spare time, I enjoy spending time with my hard-working, sprint-car-loving, and TV-watching husband, beautiful teenage ‘bonus’ child, and dog Mack. I love hanging out with my two grown children and watching my precious grandchildren learn and grow.
Playing the piano and doing art/crafts are things I loved when there was more time. Reading, baking, and being outdoors in Oklahoma (when it’s not super cold or hot), getting together with friends and family to tell stories and renew loving bonds, and reading therapy posts on Facebook are also activities I enjoy.
When he was working with me one day, one of my young friends voiced surprise that I remembered his mom’s favorite color (teal), but then he understood that it was because I cared about him and his family. I will care for your family, too.
